For those of you not at choir last night, Denis has deserted his post to sit on a beach on the Caribbean for two weeks and has volunteered me to write this on his behalf! I don’t promise to be as entertaining as Denis, especially as Carolyn did not divulge any personally funny moments this week. This, however, is what happened:
DONAL MY OWN
Carolyn wants us to “engage with the mournful words”. We should pay attention to introductory notes so that we are hitting them and not sliding into them.
In verse 3 in the Bass part the Huru is not a snap.
In verse 6 ‘Nursing the pain’ is all regular – not dotted.
In verse 7 the word Gallant is a snap.
Please note that the revised words and music are now in the sound files. However, the last verse which is sung in unison, is the same as the original and is not included in the revised version.
NORTHANTS MAY SONG
The rhythm of this song is like a Morris Dance. Watch Carolyn for the timing of the last line on the last verse.
THIS DAY IS PAST
Pay attention to Carolyn’s instructions about when to take a breath in this.
That’s all for this week. Please visit the sound files to revise anything you are not sure of, especially One Voice.
