TakeNOTE this Yuletide!

Published on November 2, 2021,

Yuletide is a concert to celebrate the season in all its guises, from the sacred to the commercial, from the depths of winter to the hope of light and warmth to come. TakeNOTE will sing their winter repertoire of carols and songs, including pieces from the English and Celtic folk traditions, new words to an old TV theme, Thomas Tallis and Thomas Hardy in an unlikely but beautiful duet, and a sublime carol conceived on a Hampshire pub crawl in the 1920s.

The choir will be joined by The Hyde Pipers, an ensemble that plays that eloquent instrument, the Northumbrian Smallpipes.  We’re all together at one point in the programme, choir, pipers and our pianist Roger Brambley for a rare performance of a Christmas piece. We think that line-up will be a Youtube first when we post our recording – unless you know something we don’t?

This is a fundraising event for Key Changes – the music therapy charity. There will be a retiring collection.
